The 1st Annual Playhouse West-Philadelphia 21 Day Film Project, a two-part filmmaking competition and fundraising event. Production teams are competing to see who can make the best short film in 21 days.
This year's genre is Romantic Comedy! Minimum run time for each film is 3 minutes, up to a maximum of 7 minutes, including all credits. Each film also had to include two specific elements given out at the start of the Part 1 so teams could not plan their film in advance. (1) Each film had to include a musical instrument into the narrative of at least one scene. (2) Each film had to include into the narrative at least one iconic Philadelphia location.
Part 1: FILM COMPETITION began Friday, August 24, 2018, at 6 p.m. Production teams were given 21 days to write, cast, produce, shoot, edit and submit a completed film by 12 p.m., on September 15.
Part 2: PUBLIC SCREENINGS: Saturday, September 22, 2018. The completed and qualified films will receive a public screening at a Playhouse West-Philadelphia Theater, 1218 Wallace Street. There will be 2 screening blocks (see below).

Awards will be presented for Best Romantic Comedy Short, Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Screenplay, Best Original Music/Score, Best Actor &Actress, Best Supporting Actor & Actress. The winner for Best Romantic Comedy Short receives an automatic selection and screening at next year's Playhouse West Film Festival-Philadelphia, to be held in June, 2019.
